CALL FOR PAPERS

All members of the legal fraternity, practitioners, professors and students can present original academic works dealing with the realm of International Arbitration and Mediation at the Summit.

Organised by:-The Students for the Promotion of International Law (SPIL) and the Government Law College, Mumbai

THEME: “Contemporary Issues in International Arbitration and Mediation”

February 1-3, 2013.

AWARDS

1.) Best Paper: Rs. 10,000

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

1.) The Paper Proposal must be accompanied by an Abstract.

2.) The Proposal and Abstract shall not cumulatively exceed 500 words. Papers shall be of a minimum length of 2000 words, the

3.) Aforementioned ?gure not inclusive of footnotes.

4.) All papers must be typed and reproduced on a standard A4 paper (21 x 29 ¾ centimetres). The font and size of the text must be the same and must be in Times New Roman 12-point.

5.) The text of the Paper must have one and a half spacing. However, text of footnotes and headings may be single-spaced.

6.) Quotations of 50 words or more shall be block quoted (i.e. right and left indented) and may be single-spaced.

7.) All pages shall have margins of at least one inch, or two point six (2.6) centimetres, on all sides, excluding page numbers.

8.) All Citations must be in accordance with the Canadian Guide to Uniform Legal Citation.

REGISTRATION

Registrations are permitted individually or in a team of two (2), three (3) or four (4). In case of the paper being authored by more than one individual, the names of the authors and the order of appearance must be speci?ed.

A demand draft for the amount of Rs. 700, drawn in favour of “SPIL Government Law College Mumbai” must be sent to the address given below before the 25th January, 2013.

Society of International Economic Law Essay Competition 2012

TOPIC: any topic in any field of international economic law

WORD LIMIT: Entries should not exceed 8,000 words, including references, footnotes, tables, appendices, etc.

PRIZES:

The prize consists of £200, as well as £300 of Cambridge University Press book vouchers and a three year subscription to the World Trade Review.

PUBLICATION:

The winning essay will be submitted to the World Trade Review for publication.

NOTE: For clarification, essays with a focus on international commercial arbitration or EU law will not be considered for this Prize.

WHO CAN SUBMIT:

The competition is open to all current undergraduate and graduate students of any university or other tertiary education institution, and those who have graduated from a university or other tertiary education institution no earlier than five years before the submission deadline (i.e. those who graduated prior to 30 September 2006 are not eligible for the 2011 Prize).

NOTE: Members of the SIEL Executive Council may not submit entries.

GUIDELINES:

• The essay must not have been previously published.
• Entries must be written in English and should follow the style-sheet for the World Trade Review.
• Entries must be submitted in Word format with a cover sheet containing the title of the entry, name and contact details. The essay itself must contain no identifying information other than the title.

Call For Papers: RMLNLU LAW REVIEW Volume 3 Issue 2

Call For Papers: RMLNLU LAW REVIEW Volume 3 Issue 2 The RMLNLU Law Review (hereinafter referred to as ‘the Journal’), is the biannual, peerreviewed journal published by the students of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, and is pleased to announce the call for papers for its Volume III Issue 2. The Journal accepts submissions in the form of articles and case comments from law students all over the country and abroad. The submissions may be on any contemporary legal issue with a prescribed word limit of 4000- 5000 words (excluding abstract, whose word limit is prescribed in the guidelines that follow, and footnotes, wherein speaking footnotes must be avoided wherever possible). Each of these entries will be required to conform to the set of guidelines which follow. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES   1.) FORMATTING STYLE The Entry must be typewritten in the font Times New Roman, font size 12, 1.5 line spacing and justified alignment. The Citations must be typewritten in the font Times New Roman, font size 10, 1 line spacing and justified alignment. 2.) CITATION Citation style must adhere to the OSCOLA method (4th Edition).   3.) SEMINAR On Marriage and Property Issues of NRI’s: Challenges and Remedies

THEME OF THE SEMINAR Many Indians are settled abroad in various countries of the world. These Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) contribute in a big way towards the economic development of the country by bringing in lots of money and investing the same in India and in the process, they build the foreign exchange reserves of India as well. Realizing their importance in overall development of the economy and to allure them to invest further, the governments of the day announce various incentives to NRIs.   However, they have to grapple with various problems in their homeland and in the past few years there is proliferation of problems relating to NRIs due to lack of legislative and executive efforts. There is, however, another angle as well. There are a few problems alleged to arise because of NRIs. The proliferation of NRI related issues has a detrimental effect on the inflow of NRIs and hence on the inflow of investment in the country thereby affecting the growth prospects of the country. In this backdrop, this seminar has been organized.   Thus, the seminar topic poses a lot of challenging areas to be covered in the seminar: 1.) Marriage Related Problems and the Law 2.) NRIs Property Disputes and Law 3.) NRI Issues and Criminal Laws 4.) NRIs vis-à-vis Investment and Taxation Laws 5.) Social Science Perspective 6.) Regulatory Mechanism CALL FOR PAPERS   Seminar papers are invited from the scholars, researchers, practitioners, academicians and students on the issues related to above themes. It is also proposed that the selected papers by the committee/board will be published as a special volume on the seminar in the form of edited book with ISBN No. Author of selected papers would be given an opportunity to present their as per requirement of the theme during sessions on the day of seminar. GUIDELINES FOR SEMINAR PAPER Paper should not be of more then 6000 words. It must be typed in Times New Roman Font Size 12 on A4 size paper with 1” margin on all sides with 1.5 line spacing using MS Word application 2010. Blue Book style of referencing and footnote should be followed. The paper should contain an abstract of 300 – 350 words. At the end of the paper, there should be a brief profile of the author indicating his email ID, contact number and address.
