Centre for Advanced Studies in Human Rights (CASHIR) in collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), New Delhi, is organizing a National Seminar on “Gender Issues In India: Sensitisation, Reflection And Solutions”
The aim and objective of this seminar is primarily to sensitize people belonging to various sections of society on all aspects relating to gender issues. Furthermore, it is an effort to reflect and examine all issues relating to gender issues and finally to come up with solutions to these issues. It is an attempt to address and study issues such as transgender rights, gender specific crimes, the reproductive rights of women, gender bias and efforts towards gender mainstreaming. The international community has spoken quite clearly on issues of gender equality and empowerment through various instruments such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, CEDAW, etc. Although the stark reality of gender issues is very far from the standards laid down collectively by the world community and there is a need to bridge this gap.
